This year has been quite the wild ride with how everything has been changing with the coming of AI and it’s “many uses”. The use of quotes might be interpreted as a skepticism to some but I do acknowledge that AI is a moderately useful tool however I’d like to acknowledge it for what it actually is. The next step of search engines, google beefed up if you will. It has been streamlining a lot of things and doing some creative work as well but everything that it does is just a derivative of other works nothing necessarily “original”. Let’s take a brief look at how it’s been affecting us, our services, and how we plan to continue to make sure we’re on the forefront of business with your business. I plan on going further in depth writing about all the changes however this will just be a quick synopsis while I work on other enhancements for our clients.
AI and It’s Effects
Graphics and Creative
First and foremost, we acknowledge that it can make some pretty spiffy graphics. I’ve seen a lot of really neat works that it’s created over time, however I also have some sort of uncanny ability to be able to pick out AI works whether that be from the style that seems to be coming out fairly prominently or the small gaffs that it cannot process, like the surgeon with the third hand in the OR. Either way it’s a great tool to start with but we still don’t believe it’s a replacement for human efforts.
Programming
This has been a big one. A very big one. AI is not ready for this one and I have tried. Many people have probably noticed that there have been a lot of outages, bugs etc that have come out as the prominence of AI has increased. I have. Let’s not strictly condemn the idea that it cannot program, it just cannot do everything as perfectly as we’re being sold online. It does roughly a 75% job and leaves the rest to the humans to figure out what is actually going on and how to make it work. You wouldn’t believe how many times I got the “this is a guaranteed fix” from the AI bot only to see it not work and then present the problem and then get another “guaranteed fix.” But like Graphics and Creative, it’s a great stepping stone, not an end all solution.
Hosting
AI probably has had the most profound effects on hosting over everything else because of how much scraping and “learning” it has been doing for LLMs and how many different AI agents are out there. Earlier this year we wrote about the effects it’s been having here. This article continues to remain true to what’s happening and we have been working through these nuances one step at a time as we conduct our seasonal maintenance for our sites. Thankfully what we have been working on has worked in a great way, it just takes time to fully roll it out across the entire platform.
Enhancements
Most of the enhancements that we’re working on have to do with the hosting side of things as that is where the most profound effects have been noticed at least in a negative way. Bots that are scraping have been working what seems overtime to hit as many sites and get as much content to make their models work so we have been streamlining how WordPress works on our servers and have been directing traffic appropriately from cloudflare to make sure that the sites are still working as fast they normally do.
Along with the above we’re also working on ways to make our sites more friendly with the AI bots that want to remain friendly as well. As of typing this we are working on integrating a better schema method to allow for setting up pages to be found more easily and being able to manage it better from the user side. We do have the best plugin suites around but have identified even better ways to make things easy to use as well as maintain for our users. Customizing tools have never been easier to work with getting our site out there with AI. Ask us how.
Wrap it Up
And put a bow on it.
To summarize, normally this would be a wintry “Hey have a great holiday season” post however the bots aren’t stopping so neither can we. This now has become the “New Year is coming and we are getting ready to make our services even better as things continue to change and evolve.
That being said, have a safe and happy holiday season with your families and rest easy knowing that we’re still hear with the fireplaces burning working on delivering the same great service we always have.
